Femtolaser engravings
Precise engravings with the femtosecond laser
Particularly precise laser engraving and texturing can be achieved by using femtosecond lasers (ultrashort pulse lasers). With the femtosecond laser, the ablated material is converted directly into plasma, which hardly interacts thermally with the substrate material.
Modern engraving technology thus enables the exact and residue-free removal of the smallest amounts of material on metal, ceramics, plastics, polymers, stone and numerous other materials.
In contrast to conventional laser processing with nano lasers, processing with the femtolaser leaves almost no burrs and the results are much more precise.
Special features of the femtolaser
- Burr-free engraving minimizes the need for post-processing and saves labor time and costs
- Wide range of machinable materials (e.g. metal, ceramics, plastics, rocks, gemstones, polymers...)
- Ultra-fine nanostructures of laser engraving enable optical color effects through light diffraction
- Ultra-matt surfaces during texturing due to special ripple and spike structures
Application areas of the femtosecond laser
Surface processing with the femtolaser has various uses in many industries and fields:
- Watches and jewelry industry
- Automotive
- Medical technology (e.g. PDC blades)
- Promotional Products Industry
- Consumer Electronics
Femtolaser - Our services
No matter if single pieces for prototyping, small series or in serial production - with our modern femtolaser machines we can process nearly all materials fast, cost-efficient and with highest quality according to your specifications.
- Metal components and stamping dies
Almost all metals and alloys from steel to aluminum, copper, brass, precious metals and titanium can be processed with the femtosecond laser technology at LES GRAVEURS. - The processing of plastic
Cold processing is an important factor in precision work in plastics. Particularly in the field of prototyping, the ultrashort pulse laser enables fast and cost-effective sample templates with various plastics. Development processes can thus be accelerated significantly. - Technical ceramics
The femtolaser is predestined for processing components made of ceramic materials. Ceramics have many advantages over other materials, but processing them is more demanding.
We look forward to your inquiries and will be happy to advise you on the wide range of possibilities when using femtolaser technology.
FAQ – Femtolaser Engravings
What are femtolaser engravings?
Femtolaser engravings are highly precise engravings performed using a femtosecond laser. The laser operates with ultra-short light pulses, which convert the material directly into plasma, allowing residue-free removal. This technique is suitable for engraving and texturing a variety of materials such as metal, ceramics, plastics, and more.
What are the advantages of engraving with a femtosecond laser?
Femtolaser engraving offers burr-free processing, reducing the need for post-processing and saving costs. It also enables the engraving of complex materials like ceramics and polymers. Additionally, the precise removal of the smallest amounts of material and the ability to create optical color effects through light diffraction are key benefits of this modern technique.
What materials can be processed with a femtolaser?
The femtolaser can process a wide variety of materials, including metals such as steel, aluminum, titanium, as well as plastics, ceramics, stone, and precious metals. Its cold processing method makes it ideal for precision engravings on delicate materials.
In which industries is the femtosecond laser used?
The femtosecond laser is used in many industries, including the watch and jewelry industry, the automotive industry, medical technology (e.g., for surgical instruments), promotional products, and consumer electronics. Its precise engraving allows for high-quality and complex results.
What services do you offer with the femtolaser?
We offer engraving and texturing services with the femtolaser for a variety of materials. This includes prototypes as well as small and large series productions. Particularly metal parts, embossing stamps, and components made of plastic and technical ceramics can be precisely and cost-effectively processed according to customer specifications.
