Screen printing
Surface finishing via screen printing
By means of the traditional screen printing process, numerous materials can be individually printed, ranging from plastics to natural materials and precious metals. Screen printing can also easily process specially shaped objects without a flat surface. As with other classic mechanical printing processes, the inks used in screen printing can be changed depending on the raw material to be printed, resulting in printed images of the highest precision, quality and durability, which are also protected against external influences such as sunlight.
The screen printing process consists of two steps: First, a stencil corresponding to the preferred motif is applied to the substrate and the ink is spread over the stencil with a rubber squeegee - the stencil prevents the ink from being applied to the areas of the fabric it covers. The squeegeed fabric is then pressed onto the surface to be printed and the desired print image is created.
A particular advantage here is that screen printing allows gradations in the color intensity of the motif. The higher the contrast of the printed image, the more frequently the printing process is repeated on the base material.
Service for industry and trade
Particularly due to the many years of use and constant improvement of screen printing, the use of precision tools prevents the printed image from losing clarity and sharpness as a result of a printing process that has been applied several times. Furthermore, a selection of different printing materials enables the visual design of the subsequent printed image on the end product, since the printing material is impregnated differently by the ink depending on the characteristics of the fabric fibers.
Although screen printing can look back on a long history of development, which is fed by early medieval European influences as well as Japanese printing techniques of the 18th century, this popular printing technique is more modern than ever, despite its already very long application, due to the latest technical developments. At the same time, as the most tried-and-tested printing technique on the market, it can continue to convince and surprise with the diversity of its color and design possibilities.
Screen printing is particularly popular in the industrial sector and in the production of advertising materials, not least because of the sheer endless possibilities for its use in relation to the variety of substrates. Here, it is valued above all for its color brilliance, which also enables multicolor prints without blurring of the colors.
Individual service
Our employees appreciate the traditional background of screen printing as well as the modern components of the craft in equal measure and will be happy to develop a vivid, sophisticated motif with you, which will be brought to life by printing on the material of your choice. In the process, you are equally assured of an expressive print image and a glamorous, elegant appearance.
As the gold standard among printing techniques, screen printing opens up the possibility of printing on almost all materials and thus also on all conceivable components, advertising materials and textiles, whereby there are no limits to your design planning due to the variety of possible colors and substrates.
FAQ – Surface Treatment via Screen Printing
What is screen printing?
Screen printing is a traditional printing process where ink is applied to the material through a stencil and a rubber squeegee, forcing the ink through a screen. This method is particularly suitable for printing on a wide variety of materials, including plastics, metals, and textiles, even on curved or uneven surfaces.
What are the advantages of screen printing?
Screen printing offers high color brilliance, durability, and resistance to external factors such as sunlight. Its versatility allows for printing on a wide range of materials, and the technique supports flexible design options, from sharp contours to fine color gradients.
What materials can be printed using screen printing?
Screen printing can be used on almost any material, including plastics, metals, glass, textiles, and ceramics. This flexibility makes it ideal for producing promotional items, technical components, and decorative objects, as it can be applied to both flat and curved surfaces.
What is screen printing most commonly used for?
Screen printing is widely used in the production of promotional products, textile printing, and industrial manufacturing. Its high color brilliance and durability make it ideal for printing products that are used frequently or exposed to harsh environmental conditions, such as signs, packaging, and clothing.
What design possibilities does screen printing offer?
Screen printing allows for the use of a wide range of colors and printing techniques to create complex designs and fine color gradients. Multicolor prints can be achieved by repeating the process without the colors blending together, making screen printing ideal for high-contrast and detailed designs.
